You advise IOC management and business units on intellectual property contracts and content related matters.

Main responsibilities

Following the strategic objectives set by the Head of IP and acting in close cooperation with other members of the IP Division, other IOC business units and Organizing Committees, the Senior Legal Counsel will work autonomously and oversee the IP Division content related matters. More specifically, the main responsibilities of the Senior Legal Counsel will be to:

  • Manage, coordinate and/or provide legal advice to the IOC and its business units and/or Organizing Committees’ (OCOGs) on content related matters, including content clearance, acquisition, licensing, distribution and merchandising;
  • Monitor the evolution of relevant content and contracts related trends, regulations and practices at the international level, providing advice to the IOC on how to best manage its content; and
  • Draft, review and negotiate different types of content related legal instruments and contracts.

Our requirements

  • Law degree. Qualified lawyer (member of a bar). Postgraduate studies on IP, contracts and/or commercial law will be an advantage.
  • 8+ years of post-qualification proven, progressive and relevant experience working as in-house or external counsel (law firm) in relation to content (e.g. multimedia, audiovisual, music, etc) and/or merchandising, in the content production, distribution or commercialization industries.
  • Fluency in English. Command of other languages related to upcoming editions of the Olympic Games (e.g. French or Italian) will be an advantage.
  • Outstanding drafting skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Outstanding organisation skills.
  • Business-oriented approach and ability to interact with professionals of different backgrounds and cultures and to develop strong relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to new situation and prioritise as well as to think ahead and anticipate problems.
  • Ability to work under pressure in highly efficient manner and meet deadlines.
